Who Gets Through the Door: Eligibility Requirements

• You are a care experienced student in Scotland, meaning you are aged 16 or over and were looked after by a Local Authority at any point in your life, with evidence from SAAS or your Local Authority.
• You are a statutory care leaver in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland, holding legal care leaver status (Relevant, Former Relevant, Eligible, or Qualifying), confirmed by your Local Authority or through a student finance award showing care leaver funding.
• You are estranged from both biological parents, both adoptive parents, or your only living parent, and Student Finance or SAAS has assessed you as an independent student on the basis of irreconcilable parental estrangement.
• You must be aged 25 or under on 1 September 2026.
• You must be on your first and only undergraduate degree — no second degrees, no second attempts.
• You must not be undertaking a foundation year or Masters-level study in the 2026/27 academic year.
• You must hold a firm offer from, or already attend, one of the 22 Unite Foundation partner universities, studying at the partner campus specifically.
• You must have UK home fee status (international students are not eligible).
• You must be receiving or applying for tuition fee and maintenance loans through Student Finance or SAAS that reflect your care leaver, care experienced, or estranged status for the full duration of your course.
