Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager – Food Manufacturing

Location: Tipton

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum + bonus

Our client, a market leader within the food manufacturing sector, is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead and drive health, safety, and environmental performance across their manufacturing operations. This is a key leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape safety culture and support continuous improvement within a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and ongoing development of HSE policies, ensuring full compliance with UK legislation and industry standards
  • Support manufacturing sites in embedding a strong safety culture and integrating HSE best practice into everyday operations
  • Manage customer, third-party, and regulatory audits, including documentation, certifications, and corrective actions
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, implementing effective corrective and preventative measures
  • Develop and maintain HSE compliance documentation, procedures, and employee training programmes
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, inspections, and monitoring of safety controls
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership, managers, and shop-floor employees to drive HSE initiatives
  • Champion continuous improvement in HSE performance across the business
  • Produce regular HSE reports and ensure timely communication of health, safety, and environmental matters

Requirements

Qualifications: Environmental qualification such as IEMA highly desirable

Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ HSE experience within a food manufacturing environment

Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels; Strong attention to detail; Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum

Bonus: Annual bonus of 8–9%
