D7 Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of our client within the food manufacturing sector for an EHS Manager in Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Environmental, Health & Safety professional to take ownership of site-wide EHS compliance, culture, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Site Director, the EHS Manager will be responsible for ensuring the site operates in full compliance with all environmental and health & safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices. You will lead and maintain the site’s EHS management systems, drive behavioural safety initiatives, manage audits and investigations, and support continuous improvement projects across the operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and develop a positive EHS culture across site through engagement, coaching, and communication
- Support managers and employees with safe systems of work and risk management
- Maintain and develop ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 management systems
- Manage site risk assessments, environmental aspects and impact registers
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure actions are completed
- Act as the main point of contact for regulators and external EHS stakeholders
- Deliver EHS training and support ongoing compliance across site
- Monitor KPIs, compliance data, and reporting requirements
- Support projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the business
Requirements
- Previous experience within an EHS role in manufacturing, food manufacturing, or industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards
- Experience managing audits, investigations, and compliance systems
- NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum
- NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ equivalent, or working towards
- IEMA qualification or willingness to work towards
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Able to work independently whilst influencing teams across all levels of the business
