REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

LOCATION: Wakefield West Yorkshire

SALARY: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum

TRAVEL: Nationwide (fully expensed)

KEY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The HSE Support role is a vital position within the operations team, providing high-quality administrative and operational support to the HSE Manager and helping to ensure the effective delivery of health, safety and environmental standards across construction projects. This role is central to the successful implementation and maintenance of safety management systems. You will take ownership of the electronic management system, ensuring all documentation is accurate, current and readily available, while supporting site teams to operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance with regulatory and client requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the HSE Manager in achieving full compliance with internal safety management systems, as well as client and Principal Contractor requirements.
  • Maintain, update and control all HSE documentation within the electronic management system.
  • Complete, manage and retain all required health and safety paperwork on client sites.
  • Work closely with the HSE Manager to support the safe, compliant and efficient running of projects.
  • Monitor and uphold safety management systems, ensuring consistent standards are maintained across sites.
  • Actively promote a positive, proactive safety culture and lead by example.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the company’s services and values, supporting business growth and project delivery where appropriate.
  • Share knowledge and best practice with colleagues to strengthen overall team performance.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to internal business functions as required.
  • Achieve monthly KPI targets set by the business.
  • Comply fully with all company policies, procedures and systems.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by senior management.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Highly organised, with strong time management skills and the ability to follow direction.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Confident, clear and engaging communicator at all levels.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Willing to work away from home (UK & Europe), including varied shift patterns and 12-hour shifts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a calm, level-headed approach under pressure.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to respond quickly to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated, driven and reliable.
  • Previous administrative experience.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards).
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015, COSHH, LOLER, PUWER, RIDDOR, Work at Height, Manual Handling and Welfare regulations.
  • Previous experience within health & safety, construction or contractor environments.
