An established construction consultancy is looking to recruit an experienced Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) Consultant to join their growing Safety & Compliance team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering Building Regulations compliance services across a diverse range of projects, while also having the opportunity to help shape, grow, and develop the Building Regulations division within the business.

The successful candidate will provide expert guidance in line with the Building Safety Act 2022, working closely with clients, design teams, and stakeholders to ensure robust compliance management throughout the design phase.

The Role

  • Managing and coordinating Building Regulations compliance during the design phase
  • Reviewing design information to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and Approved Documents
  • Identifying and managing compliance risks across projects
  • Liaising with Building Control Bodies and Registered Building Inspectors
  • Supporting clients in meeting their statutory duties under the Building Safety Act
  • Leading and attending client and design team meetings
  • Developing compliance strategies and tracking systems
  • Supporting business development activities and strengthening client relationships
  • Playing a key role in building and developing the BRPD service offering
  • Mentoring junior team members and contributing to technical excellence across the team

About You

To be considered, you should have:

  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as RIBA, CIAT, CIOB, CABE or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and Building Regulations
  • Demonstrable experience within Building Regulations compliance, technical design, or advisory roles
  • Experience coordinating design teams and managing compliance risk
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable experience includes:

  • Working on higher-risk or complex buildings
  • Knowledge of Gateway processes
  • Developing compliance trackers and strategies
  • Mentoring or leading teams
