D7 are specialists in QHSE related recruitment. We support businesses that need high quality, experienced industry professionals and on this occasion we are looking for a QHSE Manager with prior experience and knowledge of roofing and cladding/building envelope construction projects (large scale, commercial builds). We are supporting a growing contractor with ongoing contracts across the UK (largely Midlands/North). The business is going through a significant period of growth which brings its own challenges in terms of Safety and Quality Management.

The Role

This is a key leadership position responsible for Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality performance across the organisation’s UK operations. Ideally, we’d like to engage with someone with prior experience in a QHSE Management role, but we will also consider an experienced roofing, cladding or building envelope professional who is interested in progressing into a management and HSE/compliance-focused position. Full support and development will be provided for the right candidate and we are prepared to offer additional training for suitable candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) strategy, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews across roofing, cladding, rainscreen, and fire remediation projects.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with CDM 2015, HSE legislation, industry regulations, and company standards.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Oversee quality assurance processes throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-construction planning through to completion and handover.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant British Standards, Building Regulations, PAS 9980, BS 8414, and associated industry guidance.
  • Maintain accurate SHEQ records, including audits, inspections, training documentation, compliance reports, and management information.
  • Provide practical support to project teams in the preparation and review of risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, SHEQ briefings, and coaching to employees, subcontractors, and site management teams.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for SHEQ-related matters with clients, regulatory bodies, auditors, and other stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance, environmental management, operational compliance, and quality standards.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience within the roofing, cladding, façades, construction, or wider building envelope sectors.
  • Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, construction compliance requirements, and industry best practice.
  • Experience with quality management systems, inspection processes, and compliance auditing.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • SMSTS, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent professional qualifications are desirable.
  • Suitable for experienced site operatives, supervisors, forepersons, contracts managers, or quality professionals seeking to progress into a broader SHEQ management role.

What is on Offer:

  • Competitive salary based on experience – initial estimate is between £45,000 and £50,000 per annum plus car and benefits.
  • Structured training and professional development.
  • Company vehicle or car allowance.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Career progression within a growing specialist contractor.
  • 33 days holiday (including bank holidays).

Working Hours:

8am - 5pm (Monday to Friday). No weekend working.
