We are looking for a friendly, reliable and motivated Pharmacy Assistant Apprentice to join a busy community pharmacy team. This is a great opportunity to earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience in a healthcare environment while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification.
Qualifications Required: GCSEs at A-C or 4-9 or equivalent, in Maths and English desired but not essential as can be provided as part of the course. For applicants without Maths and English Level 2 or equivalent qualifications, employment will be offered on condition of completing initial Maths and English tests to determine suitability for the course.
Training to be Provided: Pharmacy Services Assistant Level 2 (GCSE) and Functional Skills if required.
Future Prospects: This is an exciting role that will include engaging with customers and clients to provide prescription counter services, advice, housekeeping duties such as stock rotation and stock replenishment, helping to deliver a variety of public health services whilst gaining a pharmacy qualification.
About the role: As a Pharmacy Assistant Apprentice, you will support the day-to-day running of our specialist compounding pharmacy, working closely with the pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are prepared, dispensed, and dispatched safely and accurately. This role is based within our online pharmacy operation and focuses on the preparation of bespoke medications tailored to individual patient prescriptions. You will complete a Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprenticeship alongside your role, with full training and support provided.
Key duties:
- Supporting the dispensing and dispatching of prescriptions for our online pharmacy services
- Assisting with the preparation and compounding of bespoke medications on a named-patient basis against prescriptions (under supervision)
- Handling stock, deliveries, and maintaining accurate records
- Using pharmacy systems to process prescriptions and maintain patient information
- Responding to patient and customer queries via email and telephone
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, health & safety, and confidentiality
- Working closely with the pharmacy team to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient service delivery
What we’re looking for:
- A genuine interest in healthcare, pharmacy, and precision-based medication preparation
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow processes accurately

This role is primarily non-patient facing, with customer queries managed via email and telephone. Any patient-facing elements required for the apprenticeship will be facilitated through a partner pharmacy. Apprentices must be able to commit to contracted working hours and guided learning hours.
