We are looking for a motivated and practical Laboratory Technician Apprentice to join our laboratory team. This is a great opportunity to earn while you learn, developing hands-on laboratory skills while working towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship.

Qualifications Required:

  • GCSEs in Maths, English, and a science subject (or equivalent) at grade 4-9 or equivalent.

Personal Qualities:

  • Ability to work unsupervised following a planned work schedule.
  • Writing and numeracy skills.
  • Familiarity with computers / keyboards / typing skills.
  • Word, Excel, Access – statistics, graphs, data analysis.
  • General awareness of importance of safety, and in particular safety issues of working in a laboratory.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to work unsupervised following a planned work schedule.

If you have practical ability, ability to solve problems and good communication skills there are opportunities for progression towards higher qualifications.

About the role:

As a Laboratory Technician Apprentice, you will support the day-to-day work of the laboratory, assisting with testing, preparing samples and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. You will be trained and supported throughout the apprenticeship.

Key duties:

  • Assisting with laboratory tests and experiments under supervision.
  • Preparing samples, materials and equipment for testing.
  • Accurately recording results and maintaining laboratory records.
  • Cleaning, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment.
  • Following health & safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Working as part of a team to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy.

Apprenticeship details:

  • Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship.
  • Combination of on-the-job training and off-the-job learning.
  • Full training and support provided.
  • No previous laboratory experience required.
