Role Summary: Senior Application Developer – UK Customer Solutions team. Deliver applications for customers, develop industry‑leading software on D‑Wave’s quantum systems, collaborate with stakeholders and internal teams, and support market launch of new solutions.
What You'll Do:
- Develop algorithms to solve complex problems while building applications on the D‑Wave quantum computer and internal tools.
- Implement and optimize the performance of quantum applications, primarily in Python.
- Build custom applications to solve complex problems for customers or for market release.
- Ensure successful delivery of projects to achieve positive business value for customers.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and team members to understand application requirements and design customized solutions.
- Become an expert on professional services offerings such as the cloud service (LEAP) and open‑source software tools (Ocean).
- Help solve real‑world, challenging problems that directly impact customers’ business success.
About You:
- 5+ years professional experience with Python; knowledge of NumPy, Pandas, Scikit‑learn, and Networkx is a plus.
- Masters, PhD, or equivalent in Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or related technical field preferred.
- Experience working directly with customers to identify requirements and consult on solutions to complex business problems.
- Strong knowledge of probability, statistics, and/or mathematics.
- Experience with version control software such as Git.
- Experience implementing complex algorithms.
- Experience with leading optimization tools (e.g., CPLEX or Gurobi) to solve optimization problems.
- Experience building open‑source applications for customers or market release.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem‑solving skills, and creativity in approaching new problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, flexible, and passionate about writing state‑of‑the‑art code.
