Job Description
We’re recruiting a Livestock Buyer to join an established and growing food manufacturing business. This is a varied, hands-on position combining time on site with regular travel across the farming community.

You’ll be responsible for helping maintain a reliable supply of quality cattle and sheep, developing relationships with both existing and new suppliers. Day to day, this will involve speaking directly with farmers, visiting farms, assessing livestock and working closely with the wider business to ensure supply requirements are met.

The role would suit someone who understands the livestock or agricultural sector and is comfortable operating in a commercially focused environment. You’ll need to be confident dealing with farmers, able to develop trust quickly and have a good understanding of livestock production and animal quality.

An existing network within the farming community would certainly be advantageous, but equally important will be your ability to establish new relationships and represent the business professionally in the field.

We’re particularly interested in people who can bring:

- Experience within livestock, agriculture, farming or the wider red meat sector
- Knowledge of cattle and/or sheep production
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Good commercial judgement and confidence when negotiating
- A self-motivated approach and willingness to spend time out meeting suppliers
