We’re seeking a seasoned butcher with the perfect blend of vision and expertise to play a pivotal role in our retail butchery businesses\’ next chapter. This is not just another job—it’s a one-off opportunity to help shape the future of one of the UK’s most respected names in butchery, becoming the General Manager of the UK’s Best Butcher Shop and Double World Champion.

The four key goals are to:
- Ensure the very highest levels of product quality are maintained
- Ensure the very highest standards of customer service are achieved
- Improve profitability (Total and % Gross Margin)
- Lead and motivate the team
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage and motivate staff – providing regular feedback on performance and coach accordingly. Perform formal annual appraisals
- Customer satisfaction – ensure the highest standards of customer satisfaction(retail/wholesale/foodservice/internet customers) are adhered to, ensuring orders are dispatched on time and in full (to the highest quality standards)
- Improve productivity – assess and improve workflows and output per operator
- Control costs – minimise waste to ensure raw material costs per unit are as low as possible, whilst maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Hygiene standards – maintain the highest standards of hygiene in accordance to Food Standards criteria. Ensure all daily management checks are carried out efficiently and effectively and that all paper work is kept up to date. Take ownership of all external audits and ensure these are passed.
- Stock management – ensure stock (meat, ingredients and packaging) is at appropriate levels and is managed well, keeping waste is at minimal levels
- Merchandising of retail counters – ensure the shop counters are always well merchandised with an appropriate range of products
- Innovation – highlight opportunities for profitable new products, and look to find ways of improving existing products
Working Hours:
- 45 hours per week, based on a 5 day week
- 5 Days Monday – Friday, with the general requirement to work two weekends per month (weekend working will increase during peak periods, especially during the festive season).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a butchery or meat retail environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of meat products, cuts, preparation, and storage
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume setting
- Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer skills
