The Role

Once passed probation this will be a hybrid role with 3 days a week in the office. As the new Buyer you will be responsible for the Meat Category. This role will see you liaising with UK & international suppliers to source the best quality produce for your foodservice customers. Your duties will include:

  • Overall management of your Meat category (full range + cured meats + meat alternatives)
  • Forecasting (formulate forecasts and monitor stock levels), order processing and supplier management
  • Regular presentations and training on your category to the business and representing the business at trade shows, conferences, and events
  • Lead NDP to identify new commercial opportunities and work closely with the sales team
  • Source new suppliers and expand with existing ones
  • Negotiate prices and manage supplier price files

Your Skills & Experience

To be considered for this opportunity, you’ll need:

  • To be engaging and driven with excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of UK & EU importation laws and regulations
  • Ideally, experience with Products of Animal Origin and Customs Agents
  • Excellent numerical & IT skills, strong with Forecasting, Excel, ERP’s (SAP), and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple suppliers across the UK and internationally
  • Confident with presenting and passionate about Food!
