ROLE PURPOSE:
As a Senior Process Technologist, you will ensure the smooth transition of product concepts from kitchen through to the manufacturing process – from concept approval to launch. To ensure that Technical & Quality standards are achieved whilst maximising profitability. To challenge factory processes, looking for improvements, efficiencies & potential value engineering without being detrimental to finished product quality.
Reports to: Head of NPD
Team: Fun, friendly and social team with a nice culture. One Direct report (Junior Tech).
With this role you will be on-site 5 days a week, however, there is an option to work from home 1 day a week (this depends on the needs of the business). The role is factory based and so the process side of this role is managed by you – 80% of your time will be spent in the factory.
KEY DUTIES BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Work with Concept Development Manager, Senior Concept Development Technologist and Development Technologist to convert a product from kitchen concept to production in line with assigned critical path.
- Generate, update, and maintain internal factory recipe paperwork.
- Organise and conduct the factory trials after product handover to meet the critical path.
- Record all process/ingredient (both new & existing) related issues during factory trial and escalate to various departments.
- Document all factory trials.
- Organise nutritional and shelf life samples from each factory trial in a timely manner.
- Liaise with different departments like production, technical, Supply Chain, Goods in and Despatch during trial phase to ensure everyone is aware of responsibilities.
- Ensure all changes throughout the development process are captured and incorporated in commercial costings and quality paperwork.
- Present samples to the customer and agree quality parameters for the customer QAS.
- Work closely with suppliers and raw material team to agree quality parameters of raw materials.
- All trialled products are organoleptically assessed and quality attributes recorded.
- Generate new product QAS considering process capabilities.
- Circulation of trial plans on a weekly basis.
- Organise/involved in all pre-launch meetings to issue out necessary information.
- To attend all product concept screening raising the necessary points to deliver a viable product to the customer.
CANDIDATE:
You will have a proven track record in process within the Food Manufacturing sector. Exposure to working within a fast paced environment would be beneficial. Previous people management experience is not necessary.
