DR Newitt Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Mobile Mechanical Engineer to join a facilities maintenance team supporting a major public sector estate across South London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer with a background in commercial maintenance or facilities management to take responsibility for planned and reactive maintenance across a range of building services systems.
Working across multiple sites within a dedicated contract area, you'll play a key role in maintaining safe, compliant and efficient building operations.
The Role
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and fault-finding activities across commercial buildings.
- Maintaining and repairing mechanical building services, including AHUs, ventilation systems, FCUs, heating and cooling equipment.
- Servicing water systems and associated assets, including booster sets, chlorifiers and water heaters.
- Diagnosing faults, identifying remedial works and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- Responding to client queries professionally and providing clear updates on completed works.
- Completing service reports, inspection records and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Travelling between sites within the contract area and managing your workload independently.
- Participating in an on-call rota to support out-of-hours maintenance requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Plumbing, Heating and Ventilation, such as City & Guilds or an equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in commercial mechanical maintenance or facilities management.
- Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working across multiple sites or in a mobile engineering role.
- Good communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
- The ability to prioritise workloads, work independently and respond effectively to reactive maintenance issues.
- Flexibility to participate in an on-call rota.
Security Clearance: Due to the nature of the contract, the successful candidate must be willing and eligible to undergo the required police security clearance process. This process can take approximately 7-10 months, so applicants should be prepared for an extended clearance period.
What’s on Offer?
- The opportunity to work on a high-profile public sector facilities maintenance contract.
- A mobile role covering two closely located sites within one dedicated contract.
- Ongoing training and professional development.
- The opportunity to further develop your experience within a structured facilities management environment.
