Are you a Design Engineer or Graduate Designer looking for a new product design and development role? Are you confident in 2D and 3D design work through CAD systems like ArtiosCAD or similar? Are you able to take a client's brief through design and sample phases into successful production?
We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time designer to join the New Product Development Team, providing optimised solutions in the corrugated packaging sector, serving a variety of markets. This role is primarily focused on structural design for manufacture, providing concepts and CAD designs for a wide range of packaging solutions. You will demonstrate skills in designing on CAD to develop briefs, understand manufacturing processes, and apply a practical approach to production, underpinning your creative skills.
Main responsibilities include:
- Working closely with customers, internal teams, and external suppliers to produce practical solutions that meet customer demands while considering manufacturing process boundaries.
- Ensuring enquiries and samples are handled professionally and timely, from concept through to project delivery.
- Providing clear communication between Sales & Operational teams.
- Ensuring all information issued to the factory aligns with customer requirements.
- Producing accurate CAD designs and drawings of packaging solutions for customer and operational use.
- Producing samples for customer evaluation and approval.
- Effectively operating the selected design system and business software.
- Generating conceptual artwork ideas, through to 3D visuals and mocked-up samples.
The successful candidate will have:
- Ideally, a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience within the Packaging Industry.
- Excellent working knowledge of CAD (ideally Artios or Kasemake), Adobe Suite, Excel, and other Microsoft packages.
- Experience and interest in graphic design would be an advantage.
- An understanding of factory manufacturing capabilities and systems.
- Project Management experience.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- A proactive ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Self-motivation, with the ability to thrive in a high-paced environment and coordinate multiple projects.
- Understanding of the full product lifecycle from initial concept and design through to production.
- Ability to challenge new and existing designs and solutions for the benefit of the business and the customer.
- Excellent time management and personal organisation skills with a flexible approach.
- A proven track record in taking ownership and consistently delivering results.
