Overview
In this role you will lead commodity procurement and develop category strategies to secure supply, drive value and manage risk. You will oversee a small procurement team across two Midlands sites and work with cross-functional partners to shape sourcing decisions. The role focuses on supplier partnerships, cost savings and continuous improvement within a growing food business serving major retail and foodservice customers. You will influence global sourcing and risk management while maintaining responsible procurement practices. Responsibilities
- Own procurement of commodities for defined categories
- Lead and develop small teams across two sites
- Develop and implement category strategies for value and continuity of supply
- Lead Commodity Risk Management and monitor price trends
- Own Purchase Price Variance and contribute to budgeting
- Deliver cost savings, cost avoidance and efficiency improvements
- Manage supplier relationships, monitor KPIs and resolve performance issues
- Execute tenders and negotiate supplier contracts
- Identify and onboard best-in-class suppliers and strategic partners
Key requirements
- 5+ years in commodity procurement within food manufacturing
- Proven supplier relationship management and negotiation experience
- Experience in Commodity Risk Management and market analysis
- Knowledge of supplier contracts and legal principles
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
- Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience managing and developing small teams across multiple sites
