Artingstall Opticians is a community-focused optical practice which has been serving patients in and around Hyde for over 50 years. The practice is dedicated to delivering thorough eye examinations, quality eyewear, and clear advice tailored to individual needs. We are particularly looking for a part-time team member for this on-site Optical Assistant role based in Hyde. The Optical Assistant will greet patients, manage appointments, and handle front-of-house duties, including answering phones and responding to basic inquiries. Daily tasks include supporting optometrists during clinics, preparing patients for eye examinations, and updating patient records accurately. The main role will be assisting patients with frame selection, advising on lens options, measuring and fitting spectacles, and processing orders and payments. The Optical Assistant will help maintain a clean, organised practice environment and may support basic administrative tasks such as filing, stock checks, and coordinating with suppliers.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an optical practice is essential; additional training will always be provided for the right candidate.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a focus on customer satisfaction to create a positive, welcoming experience for all patients.
- Clear and professional communication abilities, both face-to-face and over the phone, with confident listening and information-sharing skills.
- Interest or experience in optometry or optical settings, with the ability to learn about frames, lenses, and basic clinical procedures.
- Proven customer service experience in retail, healthcare, or a similar environment, with a calm and solution-focused approach.
- Attention to detail, accurate data entry, and basic computer skills for handling appointments and patient records.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small team, as well as independently, while managing time and tasks effectively.
