The Role:
D.G Caw Ltd is a trusted remedial, repair and groundworks contractor specialising in insurance reinstatement and subsidence projects. We are seeking a highly experienced, proactive Groundworker to work alongside our team at D.G Caw. The timeframe is ongoing and expected to last at least 3 months. This position requires a 'working lead' who can interpret site requirements, make informed decisions under time pressure, and manage small teams to ensure projects are completed to exacting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Leadership: Oversee and execute complex groundwork tasks, providing direction to others when required.
- Specialist Reinstatement: Execute high-quality subsidence repairs and insurance led reinstatements, including underpinning and structural drainage works.
- Technical Execution: Expertly manage excavation, trenching, foundations, and drainage installations independently.
- Proactive Problem Solving: Identify potential site issues (utilities, ground conditions, etc.) and propose solutions before they impact the timeline, whilst communicating with the Managing Director where necessary.
- Health & Safety: Maintain rigorous safety standards on-site, ensuring all sub-contracted works meet HSE and client-specific requirements.
- Plant Operation: Competently operate plant machinery when required (valid tickets necessary).
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Extensive Experience: Proven track record in groundworks, specifically within insurance reinstatement or subsidence. Experience in pricing work would also be beneficial.
- Leadership Ability: Must be comfortable leading groundwork gangs and taking responsibility for the finished product.
- Motivated individual: Must be able to take the initiative to problem-solve and find solutions.
- Transport: Full UK Driving Licence.
