Location: Newcastle / Gateshead (Hybrid / Office-based)

Salary: £26,000 – £30,000 (dependent on experience)

About Us

D+S Structural Engineers are a growing structural engineering consultancy based in the North East, delivering practical, buildable solutions across residential, commercial, and light industrial projects. Our work ranges from domestic extensions and loft conversions through to bespoke steelwork, tanks, frames, and specialist structures.

We are a small, hands‑on team and pride ourselves on clear engineering logic, direct client contact, and real‑world problem solving.

The Role

We are looking for a Structural Engineer to support our design and inspection work. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or early‑career engineer to gain broad experience across all stages of a project, from site inspection through to calculations and reports.

You will work closely with the Director and be involved in live projects from day one.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with structural calculations to Eurocodes
• Producing structural reports for Building Control and clients
• Supporting steel, concrete, timber, and masonry designs
• Attending site visits and inspections (with support initially)
• Preparing sketches, mark‑ups, and basic drawings
• Liaising with clients, builders, and architects as experience grows

About You

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng / MEng or similar)
• 0–3 years industry experience (graduates welcome)
• Basic understanding of UK Building Regulations and Eurocodes
• Willingness to learn and take responsibility
• Practical mindset with attention to detailFull UK driving licence preferred

Desirable (but not essential)

• Experience with design software (e.g MasterSeries, Tekla, autocad, advanced steel, etc.)
• Site experience or placement year
• Interest in residential and bespoke structural work
