The Director, Diagnostics Product is responsible for leading a portfolio of $100M of diagnostics components and services that are behind some of the most popular molecular and immuno diagnostics tests around the world. The best therapy starts with an early and precise diagnosis. In this role you will help shape the future of diagnostics by defining portfolio strategy, accelerating innovation, and ensuring our solutions enable earlier, more accurate diagnosis for patients worldwide. This position reports to the VP, GM Diagnostics & Genomics and Lab Filtration and is part of the D&G & LF leadership team, part of Discovery and Medical Operating company located in Cardiff, Portsmouth or Amersham offices and will be an on‑site role.
What You Will Do
- Develop and execute strategic plan for the Diagnostics business.
- Own and drive the end‑to‑end product portfolio strategy for the diagnostics business, including growth, profitability, and market positioning.
- Ensure portfolio performance delivers against CVS and KPIs, leading PSP problem‑solving processes to identify root‑causes and implementation of counter‑measures, as required.
- Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the D&G and LF organization as a member of the leadership team.
- Contribute to delivery of the innovation pipeline through leadership at the Innovation Council and ownership of own portfolio deliverables. Ensure a clear flow of projects to meet IFV/IPV targets.
- Partner cross‑functionally with R&D, operations, and commercial teams to ensure successful NPD execution and product launches.
- Spearhead design‑in mentality across the organization to enhance long term success.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4 direct reports, fostering a high‑performance culture. Ensure clear communication of goals, expectations, and feedback to the team.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product management, marketing, or portfolio leadership, it would be a plus if is within diagnostics, life sciences, or medical devices.
- Experience working cross‑functionally with R&D, operations, and commercial teams to deliver new product development (NPD).
- Experience leading and developing teams, including direct management of product management teams.
- Demonstrated experience managing product portfolios with P&L responsibility and delivering against revenue and margin targets.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements
- Ability to travel internationally – up to 35% of the time and up to consecutive weeks.
