Job Type: Full or part-time, Permanent

Hours: Part-time up to 30 hours a week; Full-time 37.5 hours a week, Tuesday – Saturday.

Job Description: Whether it be for the weekday commute or weekend pursuits, our customers have very different preferences. What they all have in common is a genuine excitement when they’re presented with their cycling products & you are looked upon not just as a representative of The Electric Bike Shop, but a cycling know-it-all. Your role as Cycle Technician is vital to maintaining our reputation for quality products and service that customers can rely on and trust. As a Technician you’ll be responsible for fixing bicycles and talking to customers, sharing our passion for cycling and ensuring every customer can enjoy the ride.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all levels of services and repairs safely and correctly, within agreed targets.
  • Assess and process warranty claims.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to help customers find the right products and services that suit their need and budget.
  • Inspect bikes before build, ensuring no faults or damage, and report as necessary.
  • Assemble and set up bikes safely and correctly within agreed build targets.
  • Apply frame protectors, stickers, bells and reflectors.
  • Complete safety checklist paperwork.
  • Ensure the bike pack is supplied correctly and order status updated in the system upon completion of the build.
  • Undertake safety checks and fit accessories to customer bikes.
  • Book servicing and repairs for customers.
  • Minimise stock loss through vigilance and compliance with all security procedures.
  • Process transactions on the till system.
  • Support shop floor tasks if required, without impacting workshop workload.
  • Find pro-active solutions to customer complaints and queries, escalating to management when necessary.
  • Drive key KPIs within the workshop.
  • Keep workshop and all other areas within the store clean, tidy and organised at all times.
  • Make health and safety a priority for yourself, colleagues and customers, complying with all procedures.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties for the effective running of the store and workshop.

The Electric Bike Shop takes the continued professional development of its workshop technicians very seriously and offers the opportunity to gain Cytech Level 2 or Level 3 via the apprenticeship route to all of its technicians who do not already hold a formally recognised professional qualification. This offer of training will be subject to a fair contractual retention clause.

  • Cytech Level 2 qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong product knowledge or willingness to gain and keep it up to date.
  • Customer-service driven mindset and approach.
  • Understanding of retail and the importance of commercial goals such as KPI’s.
  • Ability to coach and train others and to continually learn and develop own skills.
  • Effective listening and communication with all types of people.
