The Engineering Team Manager will be responsible for orchestrating the planning, prioritisation, and execution of workstreams and activities within CYSIAM’s Engineering function. This role ensures that projects, customer onboarding and engineering tasks are aligned with organisational objectives, while fostering strong collaboration across all functions in CYSIAM. This includes close working relationships with Onboarding Project Managers, our Security Operations Centre (SOC), Cyber Threat Intelligence team and Compliance experts. The role will serve as the bridge between technical engineers, leadership, and stakeholders to ensure engineering initiatives are delivered efficiently, effectively, and with clear visibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Coordination & Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day workflows, task allocation, and scheduling for the security engineering team.
- Act as the primary point of contact for cross-functional coordination with Onboarding, CTI, SOC and other CYSIAM functions.
- Facilitate sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives to maintain operational efficiency.
- Line management of Engineering Team personnel.
- Project Management
- Manage the security engineering project roadmap, aligning deliverables with organizational priorities.
- Track progress, risks, and dependencies, ensuring transparency through reporting.
- Support planning and execution of engineering activities.
- Process & Continuous Improvement
- Establish and maintain best practices for secure engineering workflows.
- Implement process improvements for faster, more reliable delivery.
- Promote knowledge sharing, training, and career development across the team and company.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide the business leaders, project managers and other stakeholders with updates on progress, risks, and resource needs.
- Translate technical Engineering activities for executive, customer and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, contractual requirements, and industry standards.
- Work with stakeholders to improve visibility of Engineering activities to aid planning and delivery to customers.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in technical project management.
- Good understanding and demonstrable experience of project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Prince2, Waterfall).
- Strong background in coordinating cross-functional technical teams.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience managing agile workflows using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Teamwork or similar.
Highly Desirable:
- 5+ years of project management experience in IT, security engineering or cyber security projects.
- Understanding of secure architecture and security engineering.
- Prior experience in managing hybrid or remote-first teams.
- Project management related certifications (e.g., PMP, SAFe Agile, AgilePM).
- Familiarity with common security tools, frameworks, and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2).
- Experience with Sentinel, Splunk, or CrowdStrike.
This role requires the successful candidate to be eligible to obtain and maintain UK security clearance.
