Act as a key contact for the client regarding operational security matters, effectively liaising with other departments and services within the role to ensure effective communication of all matters pertaining to security and delivery of the professional security service, escalating issues appropriately.
Ensure that the security team are briefed on relevant security matters or any changes in procedures that have been made or are due to be implemented. Whilst any initial incident management/response will be undertaken by the control room supervisor or duty manager, the security operations manager has overall responsibility and will manage and direct the security response at the time of a critical incident.
Ensure appropriate training (derived from both internal & external courses) is delivered to team/individual staff in accordance with their grade or position of responsibility & identified training & development needs. Drive and develop the team in relation to Security Skills and local experience to help continual improvement.
Ensure the Health & Safety policies and procedures (including Risk Assessments) are complied with and ensure that all security personnel are fully informed in relation to both the H&S requirement and risk documentation.
Raise the profile of the security department ensuring that customers are always well informed of any operational issues, procedures, and processes. Undertake any other operational tasks as identified that support safety and security in line with policies and the company’s aims and objectives.
Manage the performance of the duty managers including carrying out team meetings, individual counselling meetings, conducting investigations when necessary, and reporting on performance matters that require escalation. Conduct and positively participate in the delivery of the annual appraisals of the team.
Positively participate in the staff welfare & development and carry out regular reviews of individual/team welfare matters so that expectations are being managed and addressed. Compile statistic reports to demonstrate the effectiveness of the security department on a monthly basis.
Carry out routine engagement with Key Stakeholders across the role. Undertake any other tasks as identified by the Account Director as being for the good and benefit of the service to the customer and deemed to be appropriate or necessary to the post.
