This role of Power and Energy Manager will have a delivery focus. The successful candidate will manage and drive the end‐to‐end delivery of power infrastructure through to timely energisation. The success of this role will be measured by the timely development, construction and energisation of power infrastructure that unlocks new power capacity for CyrusOne's customers in Europe.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the end‐to‐end delivery of power infrastructure such as substations and power cable routes in line with grid connection agreements and overall project milestones.
  • Identify and manage suitable contractors for turnkey delivery of new power infrastructure.
  • Drive progress with transmission utilities (Transmission System Operators, TSOs), distribution utilities (Distribution Network Operators, DSOs) and power infrastructure contractors through to energisation of grid connections and substation builds.
  • Support contract review and negotiations for transmission and distribution grid connections.
  • Identify and manage suitable contractors for turnkey delivery of local power solutions.
  • Assist with the evaluation of front‐of‐the‐meter and behind‐the‐meter power solutions.
  • Support contract review and negotiations for local power solutions.
  • Analyse the power situation at prospective sites in terms of power availability, grid connection timelines, scope of required power infrastructure, interim power and options for local power solutions.
  • Analyse short and long‐term capacity potential for selected sites.
  • Assist energy procurement activities and manage the implementation of technical requirements such as metering arrangements on power infrastructure.
  • Assist with tracking renewable energy opportunities and evaluate opportunities for private wire and colocation of power infrastructure.
  • Concisely communicate power status across multiple areas of the organisation (e.g. Sales, Land Acquisition, Construction, Operations).
  • Respond to general power and energy queries from customers.
  • Track capital budget commitments, identify budget requirements and accurately communicate payment milestones to the internal Finance teams.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in grid connections (transmission and distribution) and power infrastructure for large consumers in key European markets.
  • Demonstrated experience in the end‐to‐end project delivery of High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) power infrastructure in key European markets.
  • Customer‐focused mindset and a strong drive to deliver new power capacity for CyrusOne's customers with full speed ahead.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with transmission utilities (Transmission System Operators, TSOs), distribution utilities (Distribution Network Operators, DNOs) and external power and energy consultants.
  • Concise communication of technical, contractual and commercial details to all organisational levels.
  • Experience in utility contract negotiations (power reservations and grid connection agreements).
  • Experience in detailed project status reports for concise communication to all organisational levels.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Travel

  • Business travel as needed.

Additional Skills

  • Experience in data centres is desirable but not essential. Candidates from other relevant industries will be considered.
  • Experience generally in power generation and specifically in renewables is desirable.
  • European language skills (e.g. French, Spanish or German) are desirable.
