This is a critical engineering role with an enviable list of high-profile customers. CyrusOne’s primary aim is to maintain a 100% uptime and deliver best in class service whilst operating some of the most efficient and cost-effective DCs within the industry. This role is shift based and provides 24x7x365 Data Centre operations and engineering cover for our London sites subject to business needs.
The role supports the Technical Facilities Supervisor and the Data Centre Manager in overall responsibility for the buildings’ Electrical and Mechanical systems, both from a preventative and reactive maintenance perspective. Change management and incident management are also key elements of this role. This person must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Proficient in the complete end-to-end use of ServiceNow, Zendesk, MCIM, ProxyClick, and any proprietary software packages for booking work, monitoring tickets, and training engineers.
- Perform PPMs and onsite management of contractors' PPMs and service repairs on critical data centre systems, along with all associated administrative duties (UPS, SBM, PDU, Generators, ATS, STS, Chillers, CRAH, AHU, Humidifiers, Building Controls, etc.).
- Conduct isolation, earthing, and reinstatement of critical data centre electrical and mechanical equipment and systems as required, following CyrusOne safety rules.
- Read, review, and amend data centre electrical/mechanical system drawings.
- Control of confined spaces where applicable.
- Monitor BMS, respond to critical and non-critical alarms while on site, perform diagnostics, follow escalation procedures, coordinate repairs, and process related administrative tasks.
- Monitor and perform customer requests 24x7x365 and escalate when required as per escalation procedure with SLA timeframe.
- Manage common shift mailbox and action items in a timely manner.
- Operate and inspect critical infrastructure on site, determine systems are functioning as per design, and that maintenance is performed in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and/or CyrusOne policy and procedure.
- Write, Review, Dry-Run and Modify CyrusOne’s Safe system of Works to reduce Human Error and ensure 100% uptime of the site.
- Must maintain a minimum of HVAP Status and relevant qualifications whilst in the role, perform switching frequently and cover out-of-hours support when business needs dictate.
- Perform Reactive / Remedial works as raised on ticketing system on all Critical Equipment and building infrastructure.
- Cover shift including nights at short notice when the business requires it.
- Facilitate the management and execution of audit-related tasks pertaining to health, safety, and operations.
- Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared for all tasks carried out to ensure safe working practices.
- Scrutiny of sub-contractors’ RAMS, competency records, and company QHSE requirements prior to PTW/ATW and customer QHSE control procedures.
- Ensure the provision of a safe and healthy working environment, and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as client site policies, procedures and working arrangements, as required.
- Must adhere to CyrusOne PPE and company uniform policies.
- Accountable to Data Centre Supervisor and Data Centre Manager.
- The post holder does not have any directly reporting staff.
- This post carries no direct budgetary responsibility.
- Recognised formal Electrical or Mechanical training (City and Guilds etc.).
- Knowledge and operation of critical building infrastructure (e.g., electrical, mechanical and fabric).
- Security Cleared to BPSS and SC levels.
- Working as a Building Service Engineer in a critical environment.
- DC experience.
- Team working.
- Undertaking multi-discipline engineering tasks.
- HVAP appointment 3 months from completion of the AP1 course.
- Strong written, verbal & PC communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise work tasks.
