Reports to: Cyber Security Engineer
THE VACANCY: The Junior Cyber Security Engineer is a key technical resource, assisting in resolving tickets and service issues. Helping with maintenance procedures and changes where possible to ensure comprehensive, consistent and reliable service for our customers. The role may require shift work or out of hours working and so flexibility due to the nature of the work. Also, on occasions require travel to and working from client sites. The Engineer must always be calm, careful and diligent. A small typo on a network device can have massive consequences.
Primary responsibilities:
- To triage tickets and assign appropriate engineer.
- To work on and resolve tickets where possible.
- To assist other team members as possible.
- Shadow other engineers to increase your knowledge.
- To review and create documentation so as to ensure the smooth delivery of services.
- Making sure that processes and procedures are as well documented as possible.
- To actively strive to improve the service that Cyro offers.
- To act as a client facing technical resource as appropriate to your knowledge and skills.
- To act as an escalation point when appropriate within Cyro briefing and transferring knowledge and skills to colleagues (MOpS/SOC) to achieve an effective and appropriate level of service for the client.
- To resolve technical service affecting problems, and review service design if it creates support related problems.
- Assist in root cause analysis to drive issue resolution and limit impact to the customer.
- To review and report on specific customer incidents and to manage customer expectations.
- To add value and highlight trends within the service call data.
- Ensuring escalation and feedback drives a high level of performance throughout Cyro.
- To be responsible for the maintenance of documentation and upkeep of technical databases relating to the customers network infrastructure.
- Ensure tickets, escalations, changes and upgrades are completed and closed in line with Service Level Agreements.
- Report to client on successful completion of all tasks.
- Attend, as required, customer facing meetings as the Cyro technical representative.
Service Development:
- To assist in the build and design of Proof-of-Concept scenarios, Type Approval activities in the Cyro labs.
- To help in the creation of test type documentation and test scenarios.
- Assist and/or lead in the pre-staging of equipment to be installed on customer sites as part of projects or installs.
- Assist in the Production and Review of documents.
- Assist engineers in the development and demonstration of new solutions both internally and externally.
Personal:
- Ensure incident trouble tickets are dealt with in a timely and accurately completed.
- Time sheets must be accurately completed and submitted as required or on request by the Resource Planners.
- Overtime (where payable) and expenses must be completed and submitted accurately.
- Handling and protection of Cyro information and reporting of security incidents must be done in accordance with the Cyro Information Security Policy and the HR Information Security Policy.
- Work towards appropriate qualifications e.g. Networking certifications in as many vendors as possible.
- Work towards appropriate qualifications e.g MS Azure, MS Sentinel, MS 365, MS Dynamics, Linux, MS Endpoint Management, and networking experiences.
- To train internal staff on product and customer networks as your knowledge and skills permit.
Essential skills and experience:
- Minimum relevant experience 2 years.
- Background ideally within the Private Sector (Banking, Legal, Other) and/or Public Sector (HMG, Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), Local Government, Other).
- Ideally skills in as many vendors as possible e.g. Aruba, Cisco, Fortinet, NetScaler, F5, SolarWinds, from Citrix, Check Point, Palo Alto, Zscaler, Azure and AWS networking, SEIM (Sentinel).
- Ideally as many networking skills as possible.
- Understand key concepts, DNS, DHCP, Subnets, Proxy, Types of network traffic.
- Ideally Security related qualifications or Microsoft qualifications SC-200, AZ-500, SC-900, AZ-900.
- Understanding of cloud concepts.
- Understanding of AI concepts.
- Excellent customer facing and presentation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications.
- Commercial / business awareness.
- Ability to work independently and as a team and elevate and ask for help when required.
