We are currently recruiting for a HT-Analytical Scientist to join our Analytical Sciences team based in Alderley Park. As a Scientist, you will be primarily laboratory-based, working with our highly skilled team to ensure that Analytical Sciences assays, both commercial and R&D focused, are performed to a high standard and within scheduled timeframes. In addition, you will support the training and development of staff, improving the team’s knowledge and processes.

Our Company Cyprotex vision is to be pioneers of innovative ADME-Tox partnerships, driving delivery of safer and more effective medicines. With state-of-the-art facilities and technical expertise, we specialise in in vitro and in silico ADME-Tox services, providing a wide range of assays tailored to our client’s needs. This includes in vitro screening to support discovery projects, regulatory studies to support preclinical and clinical development, specialist mechanistic in vitro human and animal toxicity models and PBPK/QSAR modelling expertise. As well as supporting clients directly, we have a strong focus on efficiencies and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To conduct both routine and bespoke Analytical Sciences assays (both manually and using liquid-handling robots).
  • To demonstrate ability to use scientific knowledge in data analysis, interpretation and troubleshooting.
  • To be responsible for management of assigned assays, take ownership for the planning and delivery of these assays, communicating effectively with team members and the study managers.
  • To support senior team members with assay development and validation and design of bespoke assays.
  • To ensure that all errors and erroneous results are reported to your supervisor with minimal delay.
  • To keep up to date with relevant scientific advances and regulatory guidelines in the field of Analytical Sciences.
  • To ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean and in proper working order on completion of assigned tasks.
  • To monitor and maintain stock consumables, communicating with internal buyers and external suppliers.
  • To ensure accurate and complete documentation of all activities as required by relevant SOPs and Quality policies.

Skills & Competencies (essential):

  • Minimum BSc in relevant scientific discipline covering chemistry with experience of working within industry.
  • Produce accurate documentation and report all analytical activities and results in a clear and coherent manner, maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work without close supervision.
  • Highly motivated team player with a high level of dedication.
  • Plan, schedule and carry out your work effectively for successful project completion.
  • Experience in working with LC-MS/MS techniques in support of pre-clinical small/large molecule assays.
  • Experience with MassLynx™, Analyst™ or other Mass Spectrometry data-acquisition software packages.
  • The ability to perform routine maintenance/troubleshoot on LC-MS/MS equipment.

  • To proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and assay design and to support senior scientists to review and action these improvements.
  • To ensure work is performed to an exceptionally high standard, within specified time frames, ensuring safety regulations and QC procedures are strictly adhered to.

  • To ensure appropriate Health and Safety procedures are followed at all times in the workplace.
  • To participate in all training required to perform effectively in job role.
  • To ensure that your personal training record is up to date and that any gaps are discussed with your supervisor.
  • To complete timesheets on time and in accordance with guidance from Finance.
  • To actively participate in Evotalks and agree on personal targets and expectations with supervisor.
  • Any other task that may reasonably be requested by your supervisor.

  • We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Pension on completion (but not subject to) of your 3-month probationary period. Contributions 5% for employees (salary sacrifice) and 5% for the employer. The employee can opt to increase their contribution, and the employer will match the increase up to a maximum of 7.5%.
