The Housing Options Service is a busy and challenging service that provides advice and assistance under the Council’s duty to help clients who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The service supports vulnerable individuals during their greatest need.

About the job

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to manage a team of Prevention Officers. These officers provide tailored casework to clients, helping them understand their housing issues, resolve them, and prevent future problems.

Prevention Officers focus on prevention, assisting clients in staying in their homes or securing new accommodation through innovative solutions.

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful candidate will have experience in team management and the ability to lead and support a busy team. Demonstrating excellent outcomes for vulnerable clients is essential.

Experience with homeless legislation and public engagement is advantageous. Flexibility to work until 19:00 hours may be required to meet service demands.

Additional information

This position is temporary until 31/03/2026.

Internal candidates applying on a secondment basis must obtain approval beforehand using Form SEC1 (4.C.081). Approvals can only be granted by the relevant Director, Assistant Director, Chief Officer, or a senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2, or in schools, the Headteacher/Governing Body.

This role requires Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced checks.

The vacancy is suitable for job share.
