An opportunity has arisen for a committed individual to join the Income Recovery Team, based at County Hall. The team are responsible for the issue, administration and collection of invoices raised by various Council Service Areas for a wide range of council services and charges. The team is busy, as it provides a service to customers and Council Service Areas.
There will also be the opportunity to become involved with other aspects of recovery work including administrative duties in respect of unpaid Council Tax, Business Rates, Parking Fines and Moving Traffic Offences.
About the job
The successful applicant will join a small busy Team based at County Hall and will work closely with a range of Service Areas across the Council. Service Areas raise invoices for customers who incur charges for the use of various council services.
There are various daily duties which include but are not limited to the interrogation of the SAP ECC and FLM system to create customer accounts and process invoice amendments and cancellations and raise copy invoices, the issuing of reminder notices, the reversal of failed direct debit payments, raising invoice queries with Service Areas teams and handling incoming calls from the public, processing payments, and negotiating payment arrangements.
The team provide a support service to Service Area teams, responding to queries. Daily interaction with other Council teams and the general public therefore requires well developed communication skills.
There are targets and deadlines to be met, therefore the ability to prioritise and work to meet tight deadlines is important.
What We Are Looking For From You
You will be a highly motivated individual educated to GCSE standard in five or more subjects who is able to work under pressure as the post requires daily deadlines to be met. In addition, records must be monitored and maintained, therefore good IT skills are essential.
The position involves daily telephone contact with members of the public; therefore, it is essential that you can demonstrate confident and assertive communication skills and strong negotiation skills are desirable.
You should have experience of working in a busy office environment and should have the ability to work as part of a team and be able to follow complex procedures. Ideally you should also have experience of dealing with the public and handling incoming calls, and you should demonstrate a flexible approach to work as the duties are many and varied and workloads are high.
To undertake this role, you will need to demonstrate:

This post is office based, with occasional homeworking becoming available once fully trained and able to work independently.
