PRINCIPAL SOCIAL WORKER in Intake & Assessment

About the job

We are seeking to appoint a Principal Social Worker to join our Intake and Assessment Team – an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated practitioner to lead, influence, and support high-quality practice in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

In this pivotal role, you will work closely with the Team Manager to champion strength-based and trauma-informed practice. You will play a key role in shaping the team’s approach to assessments, planning and intervention, ensuring that the child’s voice is central to all decision making.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and guidance to the team, supporting professional development and reflective practice, while maintaining a protected caseload of complex cases. This balance of leadership and direct practice ensures you remain connected to practice, modelling best practice and driving continuous improvement across the service.

We are seeking a confident and experienced practitioner who can provide effective supervision and support to staff. While working collaboratively with partner agencies to shape and develop high quality services for children and young people. You will play a key role in promoting a strength-based, trauma-informed practice and contributing to Cardiff’s vision as a Child Friendly City.

Additional information

With effect from 1st April 2025 this role attracts a market supplement of £5,000 per annum full time equivalent.

This payment is reviewed on a 12 monthly basis.

This post has a requirement for registration with Social Care Wales.

This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced check.
