Cardiff Council delivers over 700 different services to residents, visitors and businesses across the city. This role requires the post holder to live within the boundaries of Cardiff to be eligible to apply for the Corporate Trainee role.

This role will involve working from different youth centres across Cardiff.

About the job

In this Corporate Trainee role, you will learn to:

Develop the skills you need to fully contribute to our Service and learn to engage and support young people. You will support the team with event, project & workshop planning, delivery and evaluation. You will support the team to collate data such as membership, attendance and participation. You will be required to carry out a number of IT based tasks and be happy to use a computer to create documents using a variety of software.

As part of a team responsible for supporting young people to develop holistically, you will be working face to face with young people to facilitate their personal, social and educational development, to enable them to develop their voice, influence and place in society and to reach their full potential.

To support your development, you will receive on-the-job training and supervision to help you deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive and customer-focused manner. You will also be supported by your manager and a named mentor who will encourage you to develop a range of transferrable skills to support your career progression.

Many of our teams work online with a mix of home or hybrid (office) working. Where homeworking is required, you will be given the necessary equipment and training; however, you will need to arrange your own internet connectivity (support may be available to help with this).

The post holder will be expected to work unsociable hours including evenings and some weekends. The open access youth provision runs from a range of different youth centres across the city over five evenings with an evening session usually 6-9pm.

Our customers depend on us to keep delivering services even in the most challenging of times. We are looking for individuals who are keen to learn in the role, are interested in our work, and in helping us to make a difference to our customers by delivering exceptional public services in Cardiff.

As a Corporate Trainee, you will gain valuable experience working for Cardiff – the largest Council in Wales.
