Adult Social Services is looking for a Team Support Officer to supervise a Business Support team that provide direct administrative support to the social work staff and managers within the Learning Disability Team.

The team works with adults with learning disabilities, their families, carers and partner organisations to assess individual needs, coordinate and arrange appropriate care and support, manage risks, safeguard well-being, and review ongoing care arrangements. Its work enables adults with learning disabilities to live as independently as possible while promoting choice, inclusion and positive well-being.

About the job

Working for one of the largest employers in Wales, this is an exciting opportunity for a committed and experienced individual to undertake the role of Team Support Officer. You will coordinate the day-to-day work of the Business Support staff supporting the Learning Disability Team within Adult Services.

The role offers variety and you will maintain effective administrative and financial systems, respond to enquiries and support social work colleagues and Service Managers. You will also manage information requests, help develop efficient processes, and contribute to staff supervision, reporting, project work, and compliance with Council policies, including data protection, records management, and health and safety.

This is a permanent, part-time post of 18.5 hours per week.

The post is based at 46-48 Market Road, Canton, CF5 1QE and offers a hybrid working pattern, subject to service requirements.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking for previous experience in a Business Support setting, together with the ability to contribute positively to team working. The successful candidate will be flexible, organised, able to use their initiative, and proficient in using Microsoft Office applications and databases.

Experience of staff management and supervision is desirable, including the ability to coordinate day-to-day team activities and arrange effective cover across the service.

The role requires the ability to analyse and present statistical data, evaluate complex information to support effective decision-making, and produce clear, accurate reports. Candidates must also be able to plan and prioritise their workload and demonstrate an understanding of quality standards and their application.

Adult Social Services operates in a continually changing environment, so the ability to learn, adapt quickly and respond positively to new opportunities is essential.

The ability to communicate effectively in Welsh would be advantageous.

This post is part time and will work 18.5 hours per week.
