Cardiff Council is seeking a proactive and motivated Lead Officer (Development Projects) to help shape and deliver transport schemes and infrastructure projects that support the city's continued growth and development. Working within the Transport team, you will play a key role in developing, coordinating and delivering a diverse programme of transport projects, including those associated with major developments across Cardiff.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to projects that improve the transport network, support sustainable development and help deliver the Council's strategic transport priorities. The role offers a mix of project development, stakeholder engagement, programme coordination and scheme delivery, working closely with colleagues, developers, consultants and external partners.
What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking for an organised and enthusiastic individual with experience of working within a transport, infrastructure, development, local government or public sector environment. You will have strong project coordination skills, a practical approach to problem solving and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences. You will need to demonstrate knowledge or experience of transport network management technologies and systems.
Key Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Supporting the development and implementation of transport schemes, projects and initiatives across Cardiff.
- Coordinating and managing development-related transport schemes, including Section 106 projects and liaison with Section 278 and Section 38 teams.
- Preparing business cases, funding bids and reports to support project delivery.
- Managing project budgets, monitoring progress and reporting on programme delivery.
- Leading consultation and stakeholder engagement activities with communities, developers and partner organisations.
- Supporting the implementation of transport infrastructure and network management technologies.
- Procuring and managing consultants, contractors and professional services contracts.
- Supporting transport data collection, analysis, modelling, monitoring and evidence-based decision making.
- Preparing responses to enquiries and correspondence relating to transport policy, strategy and projects.
- Working collaboratively across the Council and with external partners to deliver successful outcomes.
