The Civil Parking Enforcement Team is based in Cardiff Bay and undertakes the enforcement of parking and moving traffic offences across Cardiff.

Operating 7 days a week, the Civil Enforcement Officers (CEOs) undertake patrols across the city ensuring the safe movement of traffic on the highway by issuing Penalty Charge Notices to vehicles parked in contravention of parking restrictions.

A rare opportunity has arisen for a grade 5 Civil Enforcement Officer within the Civil Enforcement Team.

About the job

The post holder(s) will be responsible for:

  • Patrolling areas where on-street and off-street parking is in operation across the city
  • Working in inclement weather
  • Driving the Mobile Enforcement Vehicle (Camera Car)
  • Identifying instances of parking in contravention and issuing Penalty Charge Notices in accordance with the operating practices within the Enforcement Officers Manual
  • Ensuring the upkeep of appropriate records in accordance with the legislation and operating practices within the Enforcement Officers Manual
  • Liaising with colleagues and other teams within the enforcement group as appropriate to ensure effective delivery of the enforcement operation
  • Contributing to best value by working in an efficient, effective, and economic way, and to suggest and implement ways of working whenever possible.

  • Able to work effectively as part of a team, be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the service.

This is a full‑time position working 37 hours per week on a shift rota, including periodic evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.

The salary is £29,071 to £33,119 per annum, plus a 10% shift allowance and enhanced rates for unsocial hours, including time and a half for weekend working and time plus one-third for hours worked after 8:00pm on weekdays.

A full valid driving licence and Standard DBS check is required, in addition to successfully achieving the City & Guilds Civil Enforcement Officer qualification.
