The AWS Data Solutions Architect is responsible for designing and governing enterprise-wide data architectures that support analytics, business intelligence, and data science initiatives. This role translates business and strategic requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud-based data solutions, while establishing data standards, governance, and best practices across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Design comprehensive enterprise data architectures supporting analytics, reporting, and data science use cases.
- Create detailed technical specifications for data storage, processing, integration, and retrieval systems.
- Develop enterprise-wide data models, schemas, metadata strategies, and integration patterns.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend data warehousing, ETL/ELT, analytics, and cloud platform technologies.
- Lead proof-of-concept initiatives to validate architectural approaches and emerging technologies.
- Define and enforce data architecture standards, policies, and procedures.
- Implement and maintain data governance frameworks ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
- Design and oversee enterprise data modeling, database design, and optimization strategies.
- Facilitate data acquisition, access analysis, archiving, recovery, and change management at the enterprise level.
- Translate strategic requirements into enterprise information architectures, including enterprise data models, metadata, taxonomies, and vocabularies.
- Develop metadata management and repository strategies for enterprise data assets.
- Ensure enterprise data assets are identified, stewarded, reused, and governed appropriately.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members and development teams.
- Create and maintain documentation for data architecture components, standards, and processes.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Experience
- 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles.
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale data solutions.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms, specifically AWS.
Skills
- Expert knowledge of data modeling techniques including dimensional, relational, and NoSQL.
- Strong experience with data integration patterns and ETL/ELT methodologies.
- Working knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka.
- Experience with data mesh architecture.
- Familiarity with business intelligence and analytics tools.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance principles.
Should Have
- Experience with real-time or streaming data architectures.
- Knowledge of machine learning workflows and MLOps.
- Experience with DataOps and CI/CD for data pipelines.
- Certifications in cloud platforms or data technologies.
- Experience with data fabric architectures.
Qualification And Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
