The Phlebotomist I represents the face of the organization to patients and is responsible for collecting quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while following established procedures. This role involves direct patient interaction and requires creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures clearly and performing blood draws in a safe, accurate, and professional manner. The Phlebotomist I demonstrates leadership behaviours while maintaining a strong focus on confidentiality, accuracy, and process excellence.
Requirements / Must Have
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexibility to work based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
Experience
- Minimum of six months of phlebotomy experience.
- One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboarding and data entry experience required.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Collect and process forensic and clinical specimens following established practices and procedures.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and patient-focused environment.
- Maintain required records and documentation accurately.
- Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
