Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Clinical Deputy Manager to support the leadership team within a well-established nursing home in Worthing. The successful candidate will work closely with the Home Manager to ensure high standards of clinical care, governance, and staff development are maintained throughout the service.

The Role

Reporting to the Home Manager, the Clinical Deputy Manager will be responsible for supporting the clinical oversight of the service, ensuring safe, effective, and person-centred nursing care is delivered at all times. This position is 75% supernumerary, with approximately 1–2 floor shifts per week, working around 40 hours per week. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership to the nursing and care teams while supporting governance, audits, medication management, and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and support to nurses and care staff, ensuring high-quality, person-centred care is delivered at all times.
  • Support the Home Manager with the day-to-day running of the service and deputise in their absence.
  • Oversee care planning, risk assessments, clinical documentation, and medication management.
  • Monitor and improve clinical standards across areas such as wound care, falls prevention, nutrition, infection control, and safeguarding.
  • Lead clinical audits, governance processes, investigations, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support recruitment, supervision, competency assessments, training, and development of nursing and care teams.
  • Assist with staffing, rota management, and pre-admission assessments to ensure safe and effective care delivery.

About You

  • Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with an active NMC pin.
  • Previous experience as a Clinical Deputy Manager, Clinical Lead, Unit Manager, or Senior Nurse within a nursing home setting.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of elderly care, complex needs, and nursing best practice.
  • Experience supporting quality improvement, audits, and clinical governance processes.
  • Confident leading multidisciplinary teams and developing staff performance.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional care and positive resident outcomes.
