Are you an experienced Area Manager or an ambitious Home Manager ready to take the next step into a multi-site leadership role? We're recruiting on behalf of an ambitious, family-owned care provider for an Area Manager position supporting four care homes across Essex, with services located across Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea and Loughton. This is an exciting opportunity to join the organisation during a period of investment and development. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you'll help improve quality, support Home Managers and drive operational excellence across the four services.

The Role

This is a multi-site leadership role combining operational management, quality improvement and coaching. You'll work closely with the Home Managers across your portfolio to drive continuous improvement, strengthen operational performance and create high-performing services. You'll have the opportunity to coach and develop leaders, influence standards of care and play an important role in the organisation's ongoing growth and development. The role will involve regular travel between the four care homes across Essex, ensuring each service receives consistent operational support and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational oversight and support across four care homes.
  • Coach, mentor and support Home Managers to achieve excellent operational performance.
  • Drive improvements in quality, governance and CQC compliance.
  • Complete quality assurance visits, audits and action plans.
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators including occupancy, staffing, agency usage and compliance.
  • Support Home Managers with recruitment, retention and succession planning.
  • Identify areas for improvement and ensure effective action plans are implemented and maintained.
  • Build strong relationships with residents, relatives, employees and external professionals.
  • Support services through CQC inspections and regulatory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider leadership team to ensure consistent standards across the portfolio.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience as an Area Manager, Operations Manager, Regional Support Manager or Peripatetic Manager within elderly care.
  • Alternatively, you may be a highly experienced Registered Home Manager ready to progress into your first multi-site position.
  • Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, governance and quality assurance.
  • A proven ability to improve care quality and operational performance.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and people-management skills.
  • Commercial awareness, with experience monitoring areas such as occupancy, staffing and agency usage.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between services across Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea and Loughton.
