Are you an experienced senior operational leader looking to join a growing care group at an exciting stage of its development? We're recruiting on behalf of an established care provider for a Head of Operations to take responsibility for a portfolio of six residential care homes across Lincolnshire. The organisation is undergoing significant growth, expanding from 7 to 13 care homes, with further growth planned. This is an excellent opportunity to join the senior operational team at a pivotal stage, taking ownership of the northern portfolio and playing an important role in its continued development.
The Role
As Head of Operations – North, you'll have overall operational responsibility for six residential care homes across Lincolnshire, comprising approximately 239 beds. You'll provide leadership, direction and support to Home Managers, ensuring each service delivers high-quality care while achieving strong operational, regulatory and commercial performance. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position requiring regular presence across the six homes. You'll work closely with Home Managers and the wider senior leadership team to drive quality, develop leadership capability and ensure the portfolio is well positioned for continued growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational leadership across a portfolio of six residential care homes.
- Lead, coach and develop Home Managers, creating accountable and high-performing leadership teams.
- Drive quality, governance and regulatory compliance across the portfolio.
- Support continuous improvement across services and ensure robust action plans are implemented where required.
- Monitor and improve key operational KPIs, including occupancy, staffing, agency usage, financial performance and compliance.
- Ensure homes are well prepared for CQC inspections and regulatory requirements.
- Drive occupancy and commercial performance while maintaining excellent standards of care.
- Support recruitment, retention, succession planning and the development of future leaders.
- Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to implement the organisation's operational strategy.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and operational efficiency across the portfolio.
- Support the successful integration and ongoing development of the six homes within the wider organisation.
- Build strong relationships with residents, relatives, commissioners, regulators and other key stakeholders.
About You
You’ll ideally have:
- Significant multi-site operational leadership experience within elderly residential or nursing care.
- Experience as a Head of Operations, Regional Director, Regional Operations Manager, Operations Manager or experienced Regional Manager.
- A strong track record of managing and improving multiple care homes.
- Excellent knowledge of CQC regulations, governance, safeguarding and quality assurance.
- Experience supporting services through CQC inspections and implementing sustainable improvement plans.
- Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing occupancy, staffing costs, agency usage and budgets.
- The ability to coach, challenge and develop experienced Home Managers.
- Experience managing change, growth or the integration of newly acquired services would be advantageous.
- A visible, hands-on and supportive leadership style with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across Lincolnshire.
