Role Overview
We are seeking aSenior Legal Counselto support a fast-scaling, technology-led business operating across telecoms, digital platforms and SaaS-enabled services.
This is abroad, high-impact roleworking closely with senior leadership across commercial, product, technology and corporate functions. The successful candidate will operate as atrusted advisor to the business, helping to navigate complex legal, regulatory and strategic initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.
This role is suited to a lawyer who is comfortable workingat pace, with ambiguity, and across a wide portfolio, and who is motivated by building and shaping a modern legal function.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial & Product Advisory
- Lead negotiation and structuring ofcomplex commercial agreements, including:
- Enterprise customer contracts
- SaaS / platform agreements
- Strategic partnerships and channel arrangements
- Partner with Product and Technology teams onnew product launches, including:
- Digital services
- Platform integrations
- AI / data-driven offerings
- Provide pragmatic, commercially grounded advice onrisk allocation, pricing models, and go-to-market strategy
2. Regulatory & Telco / Platform Environment
- Advise onregulatory frameworksrelevant to telecoms, digital services and platform businesses across APAC
- Support engagement with regulators and external counsel where required
- Provide guidance on:
- Data protection / cross-border data flows
- Licensing / communications regulations
- Consumer and digital services compliance
3. Strategic & Corporate Projects
- Supportstrategic initiatives, including:
- Partnerships and joint ventures
- Market entry and expansion
- Vendor/platform integrations
- Assist oncorporate and transactional matters, including:
- M&A support and due diligence
- Structuring and execution of strategic investments
- Work closely with Finance and leadership onrisk, governance and structuring issues
4. Disputes, Risk & Governance
- Oversee and managedisputes and contentious matters, working with external counsel as needed
- Identify and mitigatekey legal and operational risksacross the business
- Contribute to development ofinternal frameworks, policies and governance processes
5. Legal Function Development
- Help build and scale ahigh-performing, business-aligned legal function
- Develop templates, playbooks and processes to improvespeed and consistency of execution
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to overall team capability
Requirements:
- 8 to 15 years of post qualification experience (PQE)
- Combination oftop-tier private practice and in-house experience, or strong in-house track record gained from Telecoms/ SaaS / platform / digital services companies or Fintech / payments / regulated tech environments.
- Strong track record incomplex commercial contracting and negotiations
- Experience advising onproduct, technology or platform-led businesses
- Exposure tomulti-jurisdictional regulatory environments
- Familiarity withcorporate / transactional work(M&A, JVs, investments)
- Ability to operateindependently and at senior stakeholder level
- Highly commercial and pragmatic—focuses on enabling the business, not blocking it
