We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to support a fast-scaling, technology-led business operating across telecoms, digital platforms and SaaS-enabled services. This is a broad, high-impact role working closely with senior leadership across commercial, product, technology and corporate functions. The successful candidate will operate as a trusted advisor to the business, helping to navigate complex legal, regulatory and strategic initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. The role is suited to a lawyer who is comfortable working at pace, with ambiguity, and across a wide portfolio, and who is motivated by building and shaping a modern legal function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial & Product Advisory
    • Lead negotiation and structuring of complex commercial agreements, including:
      • Enterprise customer contracts
      • SaaS / platform agreements
      • Strategic partnerships and channel arrangements
    • Partner with Product and Technology teams on new product launches, including:
      • Digital services
      • Platform integrations
      • AI / data-driven offerings
    • Provide pragmatic, commercially grounded advice on risk allocation, pricing models, and go-to-market strategy
  • Regulatory & Telco / Platform Environment
    • Advise on regulatory frameworks relevant to telecoms, digital services and platform businesses across APAC
    • Support engagement with regulators and external counsel where required
    • Provide guidance on:
      • Data protection / cross-border data flows
      • Licensing / communications regulations
      • Consumer and digital services compliance
  • Strategic & Corporate Projects
    • Support strategic initiatives, including:
      • Partnerships and joint ventures
      • Market entry and expansion
      • Vendor/platform integrations
    • Assist on corporate and transactional matters, including:
      • M&A support and due diligence
      • Structuring and execution of strategic investments
    • Work closely with Finance and leadership on risk, governance and structuring issues
  • Disputes, Risk & Governance
    • Oversee and manage disputes and contentious matters, working with external counsel as needed
    • Identify and mitigate key legal and operational risks across the business
    • Contribute to development of internal frameworks, policies and governance processes
  • Legal Function Development
    • Help build and scale a high-performing, business-aligned legal function
    • Develop templates, playbooks and processes to improve speed and consistency of execution
    • Mentor junior team members and contribute to overall team capability

Requirements

  • 8 to 15 years of post qualification experience (PQE)
  • Combination of top-tier private practice and in-house experience, or strong in-house track record gained from Telecoms/ SaaS / platform / digital services companies or Fintech / payments / regulated tech environments.
  • Strong track record in complex commercial contracting and negotiations
  • Experience advising on product, technology or platform-led businesses
  • Exposure to multi-jurisdictional regulatory environments
  • Familiarity with corporate / transactional work (M&A, JVs, investments)
  • Ability to operate independently and at senior stakeholder level
  • Highly commercial and pragmatic - focuses on enabling the business, not blocking it
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, pace and evolving priorities
  • Strong judgment and ownership mindset
  • Able to engage credibly with senior leadership
  • Interested in building, not just servicing, a legal function
