Cygnets Art School are looking for passionate, enthusiastic and reliable new teaching assistants to support the running of our classes and school clubs. Please read all the information below before applying, as this is a part-time, freelance position, and may not be suitable for everyone.

Cygnets is a fine art school franchise for children, with 70+ locations in the UK. We teach traditional drawing, painting and sculpture, combined with unique projects; experienced teachers, and professional quality materials. Classes are run for ages 5+ after school and weekends during term time, as well as every half term and school holiday.

The successful candidate(s) will assist our teachers in classes (during school term time) at locations in South West London (Putney, Wandsworth, Fulham), for groups of up to sixteen students. There are opportunities to take on more hours during the school holiday periods when we run holiday art workshops, as well as private events.

This role would suit a creative individual with a passion for working with children, who is looking for well-paid work in the artistic industry, but with the flexibility of minimal hours that can fit around other commitments. We anticipate for the right individual this role leading to opportunities to teach and take on more responsibility within the company in the future.

School Term Time Hours:
Starting March 2026 onwards:
Mondays 3:15-4.15pm, Tuesdays 3:30-5.45pm, Wednesdays 4.30pm-5.30pm and Thursdays 3:15pm-4.15pm (more hours will become available in the future)

Training Hours:
The successful candidate will ideally be available to train as soon as possible via assisting with classes/workshops.

Pay:
£15/ hr (please note this is paid for the length of the class and includes any preparation/ set up/ clear-up time. Eg a 1hr class 3:30-4.30pm is paid at £15). Potential additional hours and income from private tuition/events/other classes.

  • Strong core artistic skills in a variety of mediums
  • A passion for working with children
  • Excellent reliability, time-keeping and organisation
