We are looking for a professional, confident Ward Manager who can lead, inspire & oversee the delivery of the very best care on Crocus Ward.

You’ll be working 40 hours a week (9am – 5pm) Monday – Friday at Cygnet Hospital Kidsgrove. Cygnet Hospital Kidsgrove is our new hospital for women in Staffordshire. The service is now open and accepting referrals.

Crocus Ward, our new 20-bed female emergency acute inpatient service , provides a safe and stabilising environment for women experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and requiring emergency admission.

The ethos of Crocus Ward is to assess and treat women in the least restrictive environment and plan for discharge in a robust and timely fashion. With a focus on stabilisation, we support individuals to manage their mental health, reinforce daily living skills, and prepare for independent life back in the community.

You must have experience managing a fast-paced acute mental health ward

Your day-to-day…

  • Provide the highest standard of nursing care & be a role model to junior staff
  • Coordinate all clinical aspects of the ward & ensure cooperation between clinical departments
  • Implement clinical & administrative policies, procedures & regulations
  • Ensure compliance by others with policies, procedures & regulations
  • Support staff through debriefs, appraisals, training, meetings & development of evidence/research-based practice
  • Participate in the manager’s on-call system to provide the first point of contact for ward-based staff outside of normal working hours
  • Lead by example to ensure consistently high standards of clinical care & documentation

  • Experienced in managing change, leadership initiatives, motivating & developing others

  • Well informed of the Mental Health Act 1983 & the latest nursing practices
  • Focused on patient recovery to monitor, manage & reduce risk
