Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to work at Cygnet Hospital Maidstone , providing senior medical cover on Roseacre Ward , our 16-bed personality disorder service for women. The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician, overseeing patient care, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with GMC standards.

A state-of-the-art, 63-bed mental health facility located in the Kent Medical Campus. Roseacre Ward offers a recovery-focused pathway for women preparing to transition to community living.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead high-quality care provision for ward inpatients
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and staff
• Manage patient treatment plans with the multidisciplinary team
• Assess referrals and conduct mental state examinations
• Lead risk assessments and clinical governance
• Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and liaise with the Ministry of Justice
• Maintain accurate patient records and communicate effectively with all stakeholders
• Participate in academic meetings and adhere to professional standards
• Contribute to on-call duties

Candidate Requirements

• Fully GMC registered with MBBS or equivalent
• On the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12, and AC status
• Experience in General Adult Psychiatry and mental health diagnosis
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and GMC standards
• Excellent communication skills and teamworking ability
• MRCPsych or equivalent
