The Role
As a Quality Technician, you will be embedded in our quality team, supporting frontline investigators in their day-to-day application of quality assurance processes and activities in an accredited ISO 17025 and the FSR Code of Practice laboratories. You will play a key role in ensuring that all digital forensic processes meet the rigorous standards expected by the criminal justice system and our law enforcement partners. Over time, and with training and experience, this role will evolve to include increased responsibility in forensic casework and analysis for the right application or progress into a Quality Officer role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and monitoring of quality assurance measures across Digital Forensic processes.
- Assist with the coordination and completion of internal audits and validation activities under supervision of the Quality Officer or Technical Manager.
- Help develop and review standard operating procedures and contribute to technical documentation.
- Undertake appropriate technical training and competency to progress towards full examiner status.
- Support verification and validation of forensic tools and workflows.
- Liaise with internal teams to resolve quality-related issues and ensure continual improvement.
- Ensure maintenance of evidence continuity and adherence to accreditation requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of all activities in accordance with quality and legal standards.
About You
We are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic candidate who is ready to take the first step in their digital forensics quality career:
- A degree in Digital Forensics, Computer Science, Cyber Security or a closely related discipline.
- A strong interest in forensic science, quality assurance, and compliance frameworks (ISO 17025).
- Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to process improvement.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop through formal training and practical experience.
- Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential) – flexibility required for travel to other CYFOR offices.
Security Clearance
This position requires the successful applicant to attain NPPV3 and SC (Security Clearance) vetting levels. To be eligible, you must be a British national and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years continuously (exceptions apply for official overseas service or study abroad).
