Based from one of our many offices across the area, you'll work alongside a team of skilled Engineers and Technicians who plan, manage and maintain vital flood risk assets, everything from embankments and flood walls to tidal gates and pumping stations.

Using your technical ability and a keen eye for data and GIS systems, you'll help develop targeted investment programmes to ensure our assets remain resilient against both current and future flood risks. Out in the field, you'll survey and monitor asset performance, compiling inspection reports that shape our maintenance and improvement plans.

What You Will Do

  • Assist in the development and management of a risk‑based asset management programme.
  • Help ensure that decisions are consistent, risk based and in line with agreed local and national approaches.
  • Assist in maintaining the National Flood Risk Asset Management System (AMX) and associated flood risk data.
  • Collect data from sources as required to help analyse flood risk asset management need.
  • Support Operations Teams to enable delivery of the Asset Maintenance programme by providing relevant information.
  • Assist in the preparation of pre‑feasibility studies resulting from Flood Risk Management Plans and Shoreline Management Plans.
  • Support Health and Safety best practice by actively promoting awareness and ensuring the provision of safe working practices to comply with NRW's policy and standards.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.
  • Be committed to Natural Resources Wales Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy and understand how it operates within the responsibilities of the post.
  • Be committed to your own development through the effective use of your personal development plan (Sgwrs).
  • Required to take part in incident response activities.
  • Any other reasonable duties requested commensurate with the grade of this role.

Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a scientific or engineering subject, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.

Benefits

  • Civil Service Pension Scheme offering employer contributions of 28.97%.
  • 28 days annual leave, rising to 33 days.
  • Generous leave entitlements for all your life needs.
  • Commitment to professional development.
  • Health and wellbeing benefits and support.
  • Weekly wellbeing hour to use as you choose.
