Overall job purpose

Driving Production, Quality, Continuous Improvement and Safety achievement for the production process by managing the activity of Lead Operatives, Production Operatives and other resources and information. The Production Team Leader will have full responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the production process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Production Shift Manager by effectively managing all resources and processes to meet the day‑to‑day requirements of a busy manufacturing operation.
  • Work in accordance with all health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure handling of materials and product is in accordance with required quality standards.
  • Ensure that all production workstations are correctly equipped to run the scheduled finished goods, including completion of all required documentation.
  • Allocate Production Operatives to tasks in accordance with production requirements, ensuring they are fully trained to conduct them.
  • Ensure all Operatives are aware of required production targets and regularly monitor performance against targets.
  • Utilise resources to resolve all issues encountered within the production area and escalade to the Production Shift Manager if unable to resolve.
  • Ensure effective line clearance and set‑up of all workstations.
  • Take full responsibility for housekeeping of area.
  • Verify completion of all required records and documentation for the process to a high standard.
  • Work with a view of continuously improving all aspects of your area, including resources, equipment, line flow, efficiencies, etc.
  • Manage the safe wearing and compliance of all PPE requirements within your area.
  • Liaise with the training officer to identify training requirements in line with competencies and ensure all relevant training is up to date and completed in a timely manner, including all relevant documentation.
  • Liaise with HR to manage HR requirements within your area, including the absence process, holiday approvals, use of Employment Hero and conduct/performance issues.
  • Manage and oversee activity of employees in your area.
  • Be responsible for all resources and equipment to meet the weekly plan.
  • Act as the senior person on site outside day‑shift hours in the absence of the Production Shift Manager.
