This is a full-time hybrid role for a Retrofit Designer with flexibility for remote work. In this role, the Retrofit Coordinator will support home energy and retrofit projects, ensuring quality design standards are met from planning to completion. Responsibilities include coordinating project activities, providing strategic advice, managing client relationships, and conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with industry standards.
This dual role combines responsibility for project compliance, delivery oversight, and stakeholder management with the development of robust, performance-led whole-house retrofit designs. Acting as both Coordinator and Designer, the postholder ensures retrofit solutions are compliant, cost-effective, technically sound and deliverable, while meeting funding requirements and occupant needs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement retrofit plans that minimise disruption to occupants.
- Manage Retrofit Compliance of a project.
- Liaise with contractors, funders, and occupants to ensure the projects run to plan.
- Oversee the installation of Retrofit measures.
- Ensure compliance with PAS2035 and/or MCS.
- Report on progress to the Senior Leadership Team.
- Manage and lead a team of Retrofit Assessors.
- Evaluate projects for continued improvement.
- Lead the development of whole house retrofit designs and improvement plans.
- Translate assessment data into optimised, compliant retrofit pathways.
- Specify retrofit measures with a strong focus on performance, buildability and long-term outcomes.
- Undertake energy modelling and performance analysis to inform design decisions.
- Review and interpret EPCs, SAP data and assessment outputs to improve outcomes.
- Support value engineering while maintaining compliance and quality.
- Ensure all retrofit designs meet PAS2035, Trustmark and funding scheme requirements.
- Support the production and review of technical documentation, drawings and specifications.
- Work closely with Retrofit Coordinators and installers to resolve design-related issues during delivery.
- Support development of standard details, templates and design guidance.
- Contribute to innovation in retrofit solutions, materials and approaches.
- Share technical learning across the wider retrofit team.
- Hold ECMK accreditation and be competent on CoreLogic software; other accreditation and software experience will be considered, but must be adopted within the onboarding period.
- Qualified Retrofit Coordinator with a Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management.
- Qualified as Domestic Energy Assessor and Retrofit Assessor.
- Member of a Trustmark accredited scheme.
- Have a full driving licence and own vehicle for transport due to frequent site visits in remote areas not always accessible by public transport.
- Strong technical background in domestic retrofit design and building performance.
- High level of competence in retrofit-related software and modelling tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to balance technical performance, cost and delivery practicality.
- Retrofit Designer shall be: a chartered architectural technologist (MCIAT or FCIAT) registered by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT); or an architect registered by the Architects Registration Board (ARB); or a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB or FCIOB); or a chartered building surveyor (MRICS or FRICS).
