About the Role
There’s a specific kind of person this role is built for. You like being the one the client calls when things are tense. You’re good at holding a pod together and making sure the work lands. You can spot a commercial risk three weeks before it hits the P&L. And you’re ready to be the face of Cycore for a portfolio of clients.
As an Engagement Manager at Cycore, you’ll own your book of clients end-to-end, manage a pod of Compliance Engineers, and pull in our Principal Advisors when strategic or regulatory questions demand it. This is a senior destination with significant scope expansion inside the role — and the step before Partner when firm scale makes that right.
What You’ll Do
- Own 6–15 client relationships end-to-end as the primary point of contact below the CISO/Partner level (scope grows with experience).
- Manage 1–3 Compliance Engineers across one or two pods — priorities, growth, QA, career conversations.
- Drive the roadmap to certification or recertification across your book.
- Protect scope and margin; flag expansion opportunities; surface risk early.
- Pull in Principal Advisors for strategic or contentious questions — you don’t have to be the deepest expert on everything, but you need to know when to ask.
- Own the commercial health of your accounts — renewal, expansion, reference-ability.
- At senior tenure: own a firm-level initiative, contribute to hiring and promotion calibration, and mentor other Engagement Managers.
What We’re Looking For
- 6–12 years of compliance, GRC consulting, or client-facing cybersecurity work.
- Demonstrated client relationship ownership — you’ve been the face of a program, not just a contributor to one.
- Management experience or an explicit, credible aspiration to manage — you’re energized by developing people, not just delivering work.
- Commercial judgment — you know when a conversation needs to become a change order.
- Calm under pressure. Auditors, contentious clients, and last-minute scope changes don’t rattle you.
- Fluency across multiple frameworks (SOC 2 plus at least one of ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, PCI DSS).
Bonus Points For
- Prior experience as a GRC engagement manager, senior consultant, or fractional CISO/CCO.
- Experience selling or expanding accounts (won’t be your primary role, but you’ll contribute).
- Senior certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CIPM.
