This is a full-time position within the Marketing department, working in our Cambridge office on a hybrid basis (minimum 3 days in the office).
We have an exciting opportunity for a Scientific Communications and Engagement Lead to join the marketing team to establish and drive a high-quality, scientifically robust communications capability. This role is essential in supporting our Medical and Commercial strategy, ensuring evidence-based scientific accuracy, clarity and credibility across communications, while enabling effective delivery of key initiatives. You will combine your strategic ownership with hands-on execution, shaping the scientific communications approach, supporting high-impact scientific initiatives and ensuring content is delivered efficiently and to a high standard. This will be through researching, planning, writing, coordinating, presenting and delivering those key initiatives. You will work cross-departmentally, partnering with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Product and Regulatory teams.

What you’ll be doing in this role:
- Cross Functional Scientific Content Development: Support with the development, review and optimisation of scientifically accurate fair balanced content across a range of formats and audiences (e.g. HCP, patient or payer educational materials, and support for commercial programs and marketing campaigns). Research, write, edit and proof scientifically accurate content for a range of channels, including HCP (Health Care Professional) education, sales training presentations and digital communications. Translate complex scientific data into clear, compelling and audience-appropriate communications for healthcare professionals and broader audiences where relevant. Support early phase narratives for clinical pipeline, translating complex data into clear, compliant medical narratives and support pre-launch disease state materials. Support marketing as scientific SME and apply rigour to commercial content, ensuring messaging and claims are credible, evidence based, fair balanced and consistent with labelling. Develop and share scientific content, this includes ideation, writing, asset development and delivery through various channels. Extract and support commercial and educational messaging from scientific literature and collaborating with product and product trainers in the appropriate usage and delivery of this content.
- Scientific Communications Leadership: Define and evolve the scientific communications approach, ensuring alignment with both medical strategy and business priorities, while maintaining the appropriate separation between medical vs promotional activities and content. Act as the subject matter expert for scientific content, setting standards for quality, clarity, scientific integrity and credibility across all communications. Creation and delivery of the medical content required to deliver the medical comms strategy.
- Integrated Programme & Initiative Support: Support with the design and delivery of cross-functional initiatives, including speaker programmes, webinars, conferences, publications, and campaigns. Work cross-departmentally to identify where strong scientific narratives can drive engagement, education and business impact. Collaborate with Medical teams to ensure all medical content is aligned, informative, and impactful. Support the Marketing team to ensure content is scientifically credible, differentiated, and maximises impact across channels. Identify opportunities to enhance programme effectiveness through stronger, more cohesive communications.
- Governance, Quality & Alignment: Ensure appropriate governance and clear distinction between medical and marketing communications. Maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all outputs. Act as a key connector across teams, improving visibility, alignment, and consistency of messaging.
The following skills and experience will be important in helping you to succeed in this role:
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in a life sciences discipline.
- Strong experience in medical communications, medical writing, or scientific content development (pharma, biotech, or agency).
- Strong ability and experience to differentiate between promotional and non-promotional content and support the compliant development for both as relevant.
- Proven ability to translate complex scientific data into clear, engaging, and commercially relevant communications.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Experience working across both medical and commercial teams, with an understanding of how to balance scientific integrity with business impact.
- Experience supporting both medical and commercial initiatives (e.g. events, campaigns, publications).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects end-to-end.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across cross-functional teams and build strong internal and external relationships.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Desirable skills but not essential:
- Experience as reviewer/content owner in Medical, Legal and Regulatory review processes and compliance to US FDA OPDP regulations and guidelines.
- Experience in a regulated industry (pharma/biotech/healthcare).
- Familiarity with content approval processes and compliance requirements (e.g. Veeva PromoMats).
- Experience working with digital channels and content delivery platforms.
